Sitting here reading an article out of the LA Times about Manny I started to think about his suspension. Mostly because in L.A they are still treating him like a hero. It seems like the people out there think he is out serving his country during his 50 game suspension because they are not angry. Everyone still looks at him like he’s their savior but in truth he just another cheater.
For a player to be sitting at home, away from the game and his teammates and still get idolize is just sickening. That say’s a lot about LA and the fans they have out there, not to mention the organization. Frank McCourt in an interview a few days ago said he would like to see Manny in the all star game and that it would be an honor. An honor? This man says he would be honored for his organization to be represented by a drug test failing cheater. This man is a true character my friends.
Never the less I am still a fan of the game but after learning the history of our national pastime it is clear to see that the game just isn’t the same. Most of the time when a player would be leaving the season for an extended period of time they were more than likely serving their country. Now it’s all about steroids, tainted records, and the Yankee’s throwing a bunch of money at player that doesn’t deserve it .Well at least somethings haven’t changed.

As the NBA playoffs continue I can’t help but seeing a reoccurring theme. NBA wants Lebron vs Kobe, not Lakers vs Cavs or any one team against another. Usually they would settle for just big names on two teams but this season it is clear that they want only one match up. It almost seems like if they could change the NBA Finals to a one on one game they would love it. While the Cavs are down 3-2 David Stern is pulling his hair out in his office. He would hate to see his precious Lebron go down to the Magic because he knows # 23 will sell more jersey’s than # 12. They were pretty obvious even in the middle of the regular season but now they are just transparent. With the whole Ernie and Bert angle that Nike Basketball is trying to pull with Lebron and Kobe the situation just got out of hand. That is what the NBA is turning into though, all marketing and merchandise sales. The big-wigs in the top offices are only caring about the tv ratings for new television contracts and jersey sales. They are trying to create a rivalry that just is not there yet and honestly I don’t think it will ever be there unless of course Lebron goes to Knicks or somewhere more prestigious.
Now I have to give Kobe credit because he seems to absolutely hate this whole thing the NBA is trying to do. He hates it because he knows that it is not real. Also anyone who knows basketball realizes that this whole Lebron-Kobe situation is not real at all. I did gain something out of this though I must say.
I saw Rashard Lewis grow up in front of me(I have to take back my coward comment for now)and Mr. Dwight Howard has shown something to me too. Hes for real, that man is no joke. He dominates the paint and when he develops a go to move he will be near unstoppable. Too bad for him he will never have a muppet commercial because as Greg Oden said in one of his commercials “big men arent marketable” but you know what is marketable, good basketball. I’m will not sit here and call Dwight Superman because I hate that but I will say I hope he dunk, blocks, and flexes his way into the Finals just so i can see the NBA executives soil themselves when all their marketing schemes are for nothing.

I’m here to shed some light on college baseball because well it deserves it. The conference tourneys that are going on now do not get enough air time. Here in New England we are lucky because we can catch a game or two on NESN. When the NCAA tournament starts the games on TV start getting larger but still not enough coverage. I have to dig deep to find a in-depth look in the sport. Also the draft is coming up for the MLB and even though most players don’t make an immediate impact that does not mean it doesn’t matter. Duke and Boston College have a big weekend ahead of them because they have alot to prove before the NCAA tournament. The ACC tourney is going on right now in Durham, NC. I suggest if any of my readers get a chance to catch a game …. DO IT you won’t regret it. Also GreenBoston24 on twitter.com come join will have polls and links to articles soon.

Tonight in the NBA the Magic and Cav’s were battling in game one of the Eastern Conference Finals. The Magic surprised me tonight because I thought they were a gutless team but it seems like I under estimated them. In Dwight Howards post game press conference he said Lebron called the Magic players witnesses during his record breaking first half.
I guess that fired up the Magic because they came out to play after halftime, even Rashard Lewis. In my opinion one of the biggest cowards on that team steped up to make a huge shot late in the 4th.Even though Cleveland will take this series I couldn’t help but to think that Boston could have easily been in the same situation, beating Cleveland in game 1. Still it’s always good to see them go down.
Papi hit his first home run in 150 at bats tonight against the Toronto Blue Jay’s. Thank God for that beacause the Sox defiantly need his bat in the line up and a solid 30 home runs from Ortiz would be clutch for the Sox. I don’t know what’s going to happen after this but I hope it is more good thing’s to come for Papi.
As far as I can see the NBA suits are drooling for a Kobe and Lebro finals. They would love the ratings, jersey sales, all the money they could ask for. The L is promoting it more than almost anything I’ve seen in awhile and honestly, it makes me sick. I think they are missing a perfect promotable match up right now in the West Conference Finals between Kobe and Melo. He is getting over his selfish, immature attitude and is becoming a solid NBA team leader. I know the NBA loves their stars but maybe they should have dollar signs in their eyes for this series already.

The Nba draft lottery was aired tonight on ESPN and the Clippres won the first pick. What does that mean? My guess is they will draft Blake Griffen and that will be the end of his career.(just kidding but it will be tough). Anyways they say this draft isn’t too deep and I can’t disagree but it is an intersting one. I can’t help but wonder how Curry will do in the NBA. Hopfully he goes to the Knicks beacuse their style works with his game. Also I am upset that Gerald Henderson hired an agent, that was brutal. With him coming back for our Dukies we would have been nearly unstoppable. At the same time I can not be that angry because we have four returning starters. Nugs and Lakers start tonight, I’m hoping Melo and company come out on fire but LA is back on their game so it will be tough. Since Melo asked to cover Kobe i can not wait to see how that turns out. Melo is becoming more of a team player and it’s showing in the Nuggets success. Favre, Holy Moses Malone, I can’t stand this man right now. Everytime I turn on ESPN it’s either about Favre coming back (or not coming back) and Papi sturggling. Their is a QB I am excited about seeing return and that is Michael Vick. The man is explosive and has an absolute hose for a throwing arm. Even though he’s about as accurate as a blind man shooting a pistol he still has skills. Last but not least I have to end this blog with a Paulus shout out. Greg best of luck at Cuse’ and i hope to be watching you thorw some TD’s. Until tomorrow.. PEACE

This Monday morning has been terrible so far, but that seems to be the theme this week. Elimination for Boston teams has struck twice in the same week. First it was the Bruins and now the World Champion Celtics. I was at the Garden last night and saw a flat team with a soft defense. They let the Magic do what they wanted when they wanted, and the score reflected that. Nobody steped up for Boston and stoped the bleeding during the game. Their heads were down, which shows defeat right there. Since this is my first blog I will not go too far into it but as time goes on I will. For now that is all I have to say because it pains me just to write about the game. Check out the new blog though discussion will get more intersting.
